The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has suspended all friendly games after it was observed that fans are attending the matches, abrogating Covid-19 safety measures.
TFF say they will meet several teams on Tuesday to discuss the matter. Reports have it the federation wants to set the record straight regarding fans who attend matches.
On Monday, teams were holding friendly matches and fans had turned out, amidst Covid-19 pandemic.
“The TFF has suspended all the friendly matches effective immediately until it meets all the clubs,” read a statement by TFF.
“No friendly game will be played without permission from the TFF. Tomorrow [Tuesday], TFF will meet Simba SC, Young Africans SC, Azam FC, KMC and Trans Camp.”
The federation has reminded clubs the importance of observing strick Covid-19 measures.
“TFF has been insisting on the importance of clubs following the guidelines given by the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children and that of Communication, Sports… on how to protect ourselves from Covid-19.”
Clubs in the Mainland have been having friendly matches as part of the preparation to resume the league on June 13. The league was suspended in March due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
