Mwanahalima Dogo and Nuru Hadima’s goals were enough to bag three more points for Zone A run away leaders Thika Queens to complete a double over Gaspo Women in a 2-1 victory at the Ruiru grounds on Sunday.
Thika now stretch their lead atop to 27 points as Gaspo Women slip to third on 16 points after their loss. At the same time, Ulinzi Starlets climbed to second on 18 points after a convincing 4-1 win over Kayole Starlets at the Stima Members Club. Kayole remains in the safe zone in fourth with 13 points.
At the Ligi Ndogo grounds, Mathare United Women continued their resurgence with their first win of the season after a 2-1 win over Kibera Ladies. First half goals courtesy of Immaculate Awuor and Gladys Akoth proved enough to give Mathare three vital points. The Mary Adhiambo led charges still remain at the bottom with four points, one less than Makolanders. Kibera Ladies also retain sixth position with nine points and relegation is still a reality for both.
Meanwhile, SEP Oyugis slump continued after a 2-0 loss in the hands of championship playoffs bound Vihiga Queens at the Mumias Complex. Terry Engesha and Topista Situma bagged the goals for the Alex Alumira led side. They overhauled their lead to 25 points, nine clear of Trans Nzoia Falcons who lost ground after a 1-0 loss to Wadadia on Saturday.
In other results, Makolanders played to a 3-3 draw against Zetech Sparks at the KCB Sports Club as Nakuru West Queens distanced themselves from the drop zone after a 3-2 win over Eldoret Falcons on Saturday. Nakuru have 15 points, six clear from SEP who lie in the drop off places.
