It was business unusual Sunday in Blantyre when hordes of red and white clad fans lined up to get a glimpse of their team Nyasa Big Bullets as they showed off the Presidential Cup in an colorful trophy parade.
The presidential cup champions started off from Lilongwe-Blantyre stretch of M1 road through a cacophonous sea of red and white on either side with the bus carrying Bullets players slowly sneaking through the streets of commercial city in a victory parade like no other in history of Malawi football.
The two time presidential cup winners beat Moyale Barracks 4-3 in post-match penalty shoot-out on Saturday at Civo Stadium.Songs and dance culminated in their cup parade as they returned to their base in Blantyre.
Bullets had brief stops at Dedza,Zalewa and Neno where they were welcomed by hundreds of cheering fans where huge traffic jams were witnessed.
The parade continued up to club base in Mandala with the beauty of the occasion marked in every fan heart.The scenes were lovely as the city was painted red,the colours of peoples team.
The fans appeared overwhelmed by the raw beauty of the occasion that meant so much to each of them.
The team captain Chiukepo Mwosoya was amazed by the occassion and had this to say, “I am gland to supporters for grand welcome. We dedicate the cup to supporters for their faith and trust in us.”
Bullets pocketed K10 million plus the trophy while Moyale got K5 million consolation.
