By Bonface Osano,
Tim Byett mutually parted ways with Thika United as head coach on Sunday, August 16 after a string of poor performances in the second stanza of the league. The Brookside Milk sponsored team registered seven straight losses, a trend the management had to find a quick fix to.
In a press release this afternoon, the Briton announced his resignation, stating his sorrow and regret in not being able to maintain impressive start to the season which saw them climb up to second spot on the Sportpesa Premier League log at one point.
With no love lost between him and his former employer, Bryett went ahead to advice Thika’s management to pursue his vision for the club in the detailed letter, highlighting five points as follows;
1. Find a better training ground that matches the playing surfaces used on match days.
2. Develop balance between experienced and developing players; Thika’s philosophy has always remained naturing young talents from the region, mostly talents identified during secondary schools ball games.
3. Set up youth academy – this he said was in their plans.
4. Most importantly, Bryett urged the sponsor to invest a larger budget in the team to match expectations they have for the team.
5. Reward current players, so to retain them and attract some additional experience and quality players.
“I’m going to spend my immediate time supporting the team and spending some much needed time with my family before assessing my my future plans.” He signed off.
