By Agnes Amondi,
Four Kenya Women’s Premier League (KWPL) matches have been pulled off schedule for the opening weekend of the 2020 season on Saturday 7.
Three of the fixtures: Ulinzi Starlets vs Gaspo Women, Kibera Girls Soccer Academy vs Thika Queens and Kayole Starlets vs Zetech Sparks are from zone A (Nairobi region) and one from Zone B – Wadadia vs Vihiga Queens.
This is due to some of the players commitment to the national side Harambee Starlets at the Turkish Women’s Cup (Alanya Gold City Cup) for the next eight days.
Only one match will be played in zone A – Makolanders against Mathare United Women at the Camp Toyoyo grounds on Sunday whilst three remain on course in zone B across the weekend.
The league was restructured to the zonal format ahead of the season.
