The Togolese FA on Monday renewed head coach Claude Le Roy’s contract ahead of 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The federation president Guy Akpovy made the announcement on Monday evening handing the task of guiding the Sparrow Hawks to 2021 African Cup of Nations and 2022 FFIFA World Cup to the 70-year-old Frenchman.
In April last year, angry Togolese fans demanded the sacking of the coach after he failed to guide Togo to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. The African football veteran coach laughed off the pressure and insisted that he will still remain in the office.
Le Roy was appointed the Sparrow Hawks coach in April 2016 replacing another African football veteran Tom Sainfiet.
In the 2021 AFCON qualifiers, Togo is grouped with Kenya, Comoros and Egypt. In the Qatar 2022 qualifiers are in the same pool with Senegal, Congo and Namibia.
