Former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Toni Silva has described Pitso Mosimane as the “weakest coach” he has ever worked under in a scathing letter released on Tuesday – hours before the club’s 2-0 defeat at home to AmaZulu.
Silva endured an unsuccessful stay at Chloorkop before eventually leaving for Egyptian club Al-Ittihad earlier this month. The Guinea-Bissau international managed a mere two goals in 11 appearances for the Brazilians.
Silva, who is a journeyman of note, notable rose through the ranks at English giants Chelsea and Liverpool, but couldn’t make the grade in South Africa having failed to convince Mosimane of his talent in his six months at the club.
The 25-year-old, though, believes the biggest fault lies with Mosimane.
An extract from the now infamous letter:
“Pitso you are the weakest coach I have ever had in my life. You are arrogant and your ego does not help you as you fail to make your players happy‚ but kill dreams and player’s careers then turn around and say ‘it didn’t work out’.
“I was under your management for six months and all we do is the same training until the day I left and you call yourself a good coach? You always say if you play good in one match you will play the next match‚ but that’s not true because you have favouritism.”
Sundowns lost a league match for the first time in 381 days on Tuesday with an own goal from Tebogo Langerman and a goal from Ovidy Karuru leading Usuthu to all three points.
