Nkana Vs Zanaco
Nkana Stadium
15:00hrs
Wednesday 23rd May, 2018
Nkana host Zanaco in the Super League on Wednesday as they attempt to regain momentum following Sunday’s 2-2 draw at KYSA. This will be a week seven rescheduled encounter
Nkana fans were left incensed by their players to come from 2-0 leading position and draw at newly promoted KYSA last weekend, the situation that has left the team making ground for a top four slot. The result meant Zanaco, the team perceived to have had a poor run caught up on points with the Wusakile outfit , while the draw left Nkana trailing behind in the race for the top four.
Zanaco currently sit seventh , seven points behind leaders Green Buffaloes but only behind to Nkana on goal difference having played the same number of games , and know victory at the Nkana Stadium will see them leapfrog Kabwe Warriors, Forest Rangers and Power Dynamos into third. They could also go second with a win should New Monze Swallows derail ZESCO United in Monze on the same day.
Nkana have dropped just five points from the last six games with one loss and one draw , having won four of their last six league games, most recently sticking two past resurgent Kabwe Warriors . It’s their home form that Nkana should worry a lot having only won once at home in their last six games, They have lost three and drawn one. (Take note the other win indicating at home are free. points from the Forest Rangers encounter which was never played) . This is a good game. I have seen Nkana a lot this season and they do give you chances. Going forward Zanaco are better than some of the teams Nkana have played recently and I think they will pick them off as the game goes on.
There doesn’t seem a lot of good harmony at Zanaco at the moment. That celebration the other day was worrying. When you are winning it’s OK but you don’t win that many games when it’s like that. Not everybody likes everybody in a football team, that’s fact, but when you get on the pitch whatever happens off the pitch you give your all together, That could be my own instinct and I hope am wrong .
Zanaco have had a torrid phase and they went five games without a win in which they lost three times and drew two. They are coming from two cagey wins which has brought them a bit of confidence that they will be hoping to maintain but they are visiting a place they have not won in the last five games, the last time Zanaco beat Nkana away was on 10th November 2012 and that game was not even played at Nkana stadium.
Zanaco won the league with that victory at Arthur Davies Stadium – the home of Power Dynamos . Despite going down early on to a Ronald Kampamba goal, they kept their nerve and replied through goals from Stephen Phiri, Ziyo Tembo and Moses Phiri to win the Kitwe thriller.
Power, who lead the log by a point and needed to win by any margin and render any result between Nkana and Zanaco irrelevant, failed to live up to their fans’ pre match huge expectation. George Lwandamina’s Red Arrows beat them 1-0 at Sunset Stadium – the home of Zanaco.
You need to revive yourself with such memories and that was the last Zanaco won away at Nkana .
Difficult to call but Nkana is a different outfit at home this season and the sooner they correct that statistic the better for them. Zanaco can’t afford to get back to the winless streak, they don’t have the luxury of time but am not just sure if they are ready to get a big win yet.
My Prediction : Nkana 1-1 Zanaco
