Ugandan premier league is braced for a do or die finish this Friday when either Vipers or SC Villa might be crowned the UPL champions.
Vipers currently top on 63 points, two ahead of their only title challengers Villa. The two face off at Nakivubo on Friday in the penultimate game of the season.
Vipers have, however, played a game more than Villa as of Tuesday; although the two go into the Friday must-win game level on matches played.
That will be because Villa will have played their game in hand against Kira Young on Tuesday, a day that will also see three other matches including Entebbe vs URA, Lweza vs Sadolin Paints and Rwenshama vs Soana played.
It is that match against Kira at Namboole on Tuesday coach Ibrahim Kirya’s Villa will look to win to come into the all-mighty clash against Vipers on Friday in charge of proceedings.
A 1-1 draw with SCVU last Friday had seen Villa cede the top place to Vipers after leading the for just three days.
“It is a point won because we came from a goal down and had a bit of fatigue as a result of fixture congestion,” coach Kirya said after the match.
Yet only victory over Kira on Tuesday will suffice if they are to win their first league title since 2004.
Should they beat Kira, Villa will go into their clash with Vipers on Friday with a psychological edge. They will go into that tie on 64 points, one more than Vipers.
