DR Congo giants TP Mazembe will from Monday 1 adopt a new training center located in the valley of the village of Futuka, about 30KM off Lubumbashi.
The ultra modern facility still under construction will host the five times African champions’ preparations ahead of their group “A” return leg match of the CAF Confederations Cup against Medeama of Ghana on August 14.
The first leg at Stade Mazembe in June saw the Ravens thrash the West Ghana side 3-1.
Mazembe on 10 points, five clear of the chasing pack of MO Bejaia and Medeama are as good as through the semi-final, with the Herbert Velud’s outfit needing just a point in the remaining two matches to confirm qualification.
When complete, the ambitious Futuka’s project, a brainchild of the Chairman Moise Katumbi, will host one of the leading centres of excellence in Africa for naturing football talent, in line with the club management’s vision of creating a modern club.
An artificial turf is already operational, and the work of other courses including those on natural grass are in progress. Dormitories, and other downtown buildings are also ready.
“By building this place of life and drive, the Chairman Moses Katumbi endows his club with a powerful tool to prepare, recover and promote group cohesion.” A statement for the club read.
