Ivory Coast defender Serge Aurier could be headed out of Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season.
According to reports by the Daily Mail, Tottenham are seriously considering the prospect of offloading the 27-year-old Aurier in the summer transfer window.
Aurier recently caused controversy after breaching lockdown rules when he trained with teammate Moussa Sissoko which went against social distancing rules. Following the incident, the pair were made to issue an apology by the club and had to make a donation to the NHS.
The 27-year-old Ivory Coast international signed for Tottenham in the summer of 2017 from PSG. But he hasn’t really been convincing enough during his time in North London.
Aurier was second choice to Kieran Trippier for most of his first two seasons at the club. With Tripier joining Atletico, the Ivorian became the first-choice in the ongoing campaign.
Aurier has been decent going forward, contributing with 2 goals and 7 assists in 33 matches. But defensive wise he has not been convincing for Mourinho.
Tottenham are very Keen to strengthen the right back position and this might force Aurier to move away from the Tottenham Stadium.
Aurier’s contract with the club runs till the summer of 2022. The 27-year-old has courted interest from Serie A heavyweights AC Milan of late.
