Tunisia’s World Cup coach Nabil Maaloul has resigned from his role as head coach so as to take up his new appointment as Al Duhail coach in the Qatari Premier League.
Maaloul who took over in April 2017 took Tunisia Catharge Eagles to their first World Cup since 2006 when they qualified for Russia 2018 however they only managed to win one game beating Panama 2-1 finish third in a group that had both England and Belgium.
“Tunisian coach Nabil Maaloul (will be) the new technical manager of the football team,” said Al Duhail in a statement.
The club, where Tunisian international Youssef Msakni plays, added that Maaloul was already on his way to Austria to meet players at a pre-season training camp.
Tunisian Football Federation announced earlier they had agreed to a request from Maaloul to end his contract following an offer from Al Duhail to replace Djamel Belmadi who resigned in a huff.
