Tunisia came from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw against Mali in an entertaining Group E match at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium on Saturday night.
Both sides were aggressive in attack in what was an evenly contested game.
The Carthage Eagles looking for a positive outcome after losing their first match against Namibia fell behind as early as the 10th minute. Lassine Sinayoko found himself in the Tunisia box before unleashing a powerful left footed shot into the net.
It was just the start that Mali wanted as three points would send them through to the round of 16.
The Carthage Eagles however drew level immediately though to Hamza Rafia’s goal in the 20th minute to send the Tunisia fans in wild celebrations.
The two sides eventually settled for a point as none would find a winner. Mali perhaps the happier of the two as they maintain the lead on 4 points in Group E while Tunisia are on 1 point.
Namibia have a chance to go top if they pick up a victory against South Africa on Sunday.
Mali will face Nambia in their last group match on Wednesday with South Africa doing battle against Tunisia on the same day. Both matches will be played simultaneously.
