By Agnes Amondi,
Kenya’s Harambee Starlets game against Chile is by far their toughest match at the ongoing Alanya Gold City Cup in Turkey.
On Wednesday, Starlets beat Northern Ireland B 2-0 to commence on a high and this without doubt will give them an air of confidence going into this clash.
Chile on the other hand, mauled Ghana the other only African team 3-0 to top group B be it on goal difference.
Harambee Starlets coach David Ouma acknowledged the challenge ahead but maintained that the task is doable as he urged his charges to play without pressure.
“Chile is a strong side that’s featured in the World cup and other tournaments. Even so, we will exert our style of play to try and minimize their threats,”
“We are aware of their strong points, and will be keen on them. If we can keep our awareness on these threats, then we are capable of getting a positive result against them,” Ouma underscored.
He has retained the starting lineup that was used in their first match against Northern Ireland B.
Mwanalima Adam will lead the attacking lines with support from Jentrix Shikangwa, Mercy Airo, Topister Situma, Sheryl Angach, and Janet Bundi in midfield.
Skipper Dorcas Shikobe will provide leadership at the back with Dorcas Shiveka, Nelly Sawe and Vivian Nasaka, the supporting cast.
Meanwhile, Chile Women’s captain Christiane Endler told La Roja media that Starlets posed a physical threat and that is something the South Americans will have to be aware of during the game.
“The key to this type of rivals is to maintain order. The team is so fast. They take up the ball a lot, but in a messy way,
“If we manage to maintain an order from behind, we will be good. The approach we had before Ghana was super good and tomorrow we will offer something similar.” the PSG custodian offered.
The match kicks off at 4 pm EAT
