Tusker F.C beat Ulinzi Stars 1-0 in GoTV Shield final Thursday, October 20 to lift the title for time in 23 years at Nyayo stadium, Nairobi.

Prolific striker Allan Wanga, who has hit top form for the Paul Nkata’s charges at the right time, netted the lone goal, with a rasping shot, which hit the far post before bouncing into the net in the 32nd minute.

Ulinzi, under interim coach Benjamin Nyagweso were hoping for a first domestic cup, in second attempt, but a physical and tactical Tusker gave no way – holding on to the slim lead to bag their fourth crown since 1993.

With the GoTV Shield already in the trophy cabinet, Tusker, who are currently leading the Kenyan premier with four laps to go, can now smell a double, to complete a memorable.

Ulinzi will be praying for a Tusker double for them to get a chance to play in the CAF Confederations Cup next year, as the latter will most definitely choose the lucrative Champions League.
