Noah Wafula and Allan Wanga both capitalized from a defensive error to hand  10 time champions Tusker three crucial points from Awendo to move to within a win  of clinching this years sportpesa Premier league title.

Tusker just need to get maximum points from Leopards to keep the 2016 title.

Sony sugar who were missing the services of three of their dependable players started the match brightly and could have gone ahead inside five minutes had Amos Asembeka converted from the spot kick. The penalty came as a result of an elbow by Ugandan Shafique Batambuze on Masoud  Juma.

Minutes later Noah Wafula’s shot was finger tipped by Kennedy Obwanda in the Sony goal and could have sopened the lead for the brewers 8 minutes later but his attempt from a rebound went wide

The first half was characterised by a series of missed chances from both side with Marwa Chamberi at one occasion combining well with asembeka only for Masud  to shoot wide on an empty net.

The all important goal that defined the match came in the  33rd minute of the match when former Sony man Robert Omunuk floated the ball into the box  finding Wanga who in turn headed towards Wafula .The former Leopards man just clipped past obwanda finding Sony defenders unaware.

The second half began with the Millers pressing hard to get the much needed equalizer .Coach salim Babu introduced Jeremiah Wanjala for Collins Kisuya in the 48th minute  with the substitute unable to rise to the occasion manay a time

 

 

 

The only meaningul chance came when Nicholas akoko’s thunder bolt shot got parried away by David Okello in tusker goal with the remaining minutes being marred by time wasting tactics by the visitors.

Tusker FC now will need to beat AFC Leopards  to win the title.Gor Mahia take on slum boys Mathare tomorrow with victory in mind for the defending champions
