Kagera Sugar’s 2-6 home loss to defending champions Young Africans is now a subject of debate and controversy with a possible match fixing most likely.
Yesterday,Kagera Sugar FC officials suspended goalkeeper Hussein Sharif ‘ Casillas’ and defender Erick Kyaruzi for what they believe was a deliberate attempt to influence the outcome in a Vodacom league match between Yanga where they lost 6-2.
The clubs Secretary General Hamisi Madaki confirmed the suspension of the players indefinately so as invstigations on their conduct be done
‘We are doing investigations on the two players on their conduct on their league match against Yanga and by so they should step aside,The kind of goals we conceded everybody saw and its suspicious because everybody even the fans are worried. The problem is the way the goals were conceded not the number of goals’ Hamisi told soka25east
Match fixing has been rife in the Tanznaian Mainland league, last season Geita Gold Mines FC failed to get promotion after they were docked points following a match fixing scandal in the lower tier with third placed Mbao FC gaining promotion instead.
