VICTOR Osimhen and Captain Kelechi Nwakali secured Nigeria’s place in the third round of the U-20 Afcon 2017 qualifiers as Emmanuel Amuneke’s men wrapped up the business in Calabar 2-1 on Saturday.

The Flying Eagles had secured a vital away win a fortnight ago in Bujumbura but did not look like letting up as they dominated the second leg of the encounter from the blast of the whistle.

Goalless it ended in the first half and despite creating several chances the assistant Referee and poor finishing would deny the fans at the U.J Esuene Stadium the excitement of goals in the first 45.

A different reflection though, was how the second half panned out as the young Eagles swirled back on the pitch for the concluding half.

Osimhen converted from the spot in the 70th minute after Chukwueze was felled in the box and Captain,Nwakali curled in a beautiful free kick to double the lead for the Flying Eagles.

Burundi scored a consolation with two minutes of regular time remaining. The sides had extra three minutes to conclude the encounter but nothing else would give and Nigeria ran away victors 3-1 on aggregate and next face Sudan in the final qualifying round due next Month.
