The Uganda National Beach Soccer Team, ‘The Sand Cranes’ are through to the next qualifying rounds of Africa Beach Soccer Championship. The team went through after their supposedly opponents, Cameroon, withdrew from the qualifying match that was slated for the weekend of
13th-15th February, 2015.
The communication sent to FUFA by CAF’s Director of Competitions, Shereen Arafa read in part;
“FECAFOOT has just informed CAF of its withdrawal from the African Beach Soccer Championship, Seychelles 2015. Consequently the above mentioned matches are cancelled and Uganda is qualified automatically to the next round of the qualifiers.
We draw your kind attention that the missions of the referees and the commissioners of the above mentioned matches are cancelled”
The ‘Sand Cranes’ recently beat Kenya 7-6 in a friendly match in Nairobi and will next face Ghana in the next round in March with the first leg set between 13th-15th March, 2015.
