The all important goal was scored by full back Donou Kokou who silenced the over 40 thousand fans at the Namboole Stadium.Donou Kokou put the Sparrow Hawks into the lead cutting across Walusimbi before firing a low shot that beat an advancing Onyango in Cranes goal into the low corner tearing the net.
Emmanuel Adebayor’s 8th minute strike went wide after good but just four minutes later Tony Mawejje lost a glorious chance after getting a sublime pass from Moses Oloya.
In the second half Uganda Cranes played their hearts out but all their attempts were thwarted by the astute Togo keeper who kept them in the game.
Despite the loss Uganda Cranes remain top of Group E with four points and better goal difference from Ghana who were expected to play Guinea later in Cassabalanca.
