Uganda Cup Final: KCC 0-3 SC Villa
Sports Club Villa overcame Kampala City Council 3-0 in the re-play of the Uganda Cup final at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Tuesday.
In a game handled by Kenyan referees, SC Villa opened the scoring in the 32rd minute after Augustine Nsumba met Isaac Muleme’s curling free kick effort from the right.
Two further goals from second half substitutes, Abdul Karim Kasule and Yesseri Waibi put the Jogoos in the comfort zone by the What better electrifying atmosphere could perfectly describe the tense and thrilling mood at the Nelson Mandela stadium.
The match had started on a bright note for KCC when Tom Matisko’s shot from an acute angle narrowly missed target by inches.
SC Villa themselves had a glorious opportunity to go ahead but were denied by the KCC goal keeper, Benjamin Ochan.
The shot stopper saved Erisa Ssekisambu’s penalty awarded by Kenyan referee, Odhiambo following a ‘suspected’ push on Emenayo by Saka Mpiima.
Tom Matisko, Paul Mucureezi and William Wadri had different opportunities to give KCC the lead but denied by SC Villa backline.
KCC were later reduced to 10 men when defender Timothy Awani was shown marching orders for unsporting character.
SC Villa have now won the Uganda Cup for 9 times, one shot of Express.
