FUFA Big League side, Synergy FC, lined up a player with a falsified license in the Stanbic Bank Uganda Cup quarterfinal match against Proline FC, Soka25east can reveal.
In a match played at St. Charles Lwanga S.S Kasasa Grounds on Saturday where Proline lost 1-0, Joseph Kiganda whose real name is Bukenya Vienne was on the team sheet but what the Lugogo-based side did not know is that the midfielder processes a fake player’s card.
During the match Synergy tried to introduce Bukenya in the second half but later cancelled the substitution under unclear circumstances.
Minutes later, the player was seen walking from the bench towards the crowd with his team head coach Brian Ssenyondo reported to have advised him to get out of the vicinity of the stadium.
Soka25east could not immediately establish the reason why Bukenya left the bench hurriedly but reliable information indicate that the coach was tipped that Proline officials were about to raise concern to match commissar.
Bukenya is not new to controversies and seems to have become a master of cheating in Ugandan football.
A member Centenary Bank Football Team, Bukenya featured for Greater Masaka FC in a second round of FUFA Big League match against Ntinda United under the names of Kiganda Joseph.
A match list seen by our reporter shows Bukenya also previously started in this year’s edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup where he turned up for Greater Masaka FC against Police FC using his illegally adopted neme, Joseph Kiganda in Fufa player license number 005766M8(10QRH16).
In another incidence under his real name, Bukenya is also reported to have played in the 2018 FUFA Corporate Tournament for his Centenary Bank Football Club a day after Uganda Cup match against Proline, which is against competitions rules because players participating in domestic cup are not allowed to feature in corporate league.
Efforts to reach Synergy FC,Greater Masaka FC for a comment about the player were unfruitful as calls to their managers went unanswered.
However,Soka25east understands that Proline FC have sent a letter to the FUFA’s Director of Competition and they are waiting for official response.
Proline are said to have furnished the FUFA competitions body with a detailed petition and are said to have asked FUFA to allow them proceed to the next stage of the competitions as per the rules governing the competition in relation to use of an illegible player.
The matter of Bukenya Vianne exposes the inefficiency of the FUFA Organizing Committee incharge of competitions and it seems the laid constitution is not followed.
It still remains unclear of how the said footballer name has been on several occasions made through the database of FUFA without being detected.
Normally if the rules are applied, Synergy FC are likely be disqualified from the competition and the player be suspended from all FUFA competitions for a certain period of time or be fined by the football governing body.
