Ghana are out of contention for a spot in the 2018 FIFA World Cup following a frustrating 0-0 draw against Uganda away at Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole, Kampala Saturday.
The result leaves the Black Stars third in Group E on six points – three off leaders Egypt who take on bottom placed Congo Brazzaville at Borg El Arab Stadium, Alexandria Sunday.
Uganda on the other hand hold on to a mathematical chance of making maiden World Cup appearance but their fate is not in their hands now.
They remain second on eight points – one less than the leaders.
A win for the Egyptians will effectively crash the hopes and send the Pharaohs to their first World Cup since Italy 1990.
Uganda took the match to the 2014 qualifiers from the start with an aim of an early goal but the visitors proved unbreakable.
A poor playing pitch did not aide their course either.
Emmanuel Okwi and Faruk Miya were particularly a thorn in the flesh of the Ghanaians.
Derrick Nsibambi headed over from inside the box Uganda’s best chance of the game in the 65th minute after being put through by Geoffrey Walusimbi.
The tie ended controversially after Ghana scored but were ruled out for offside.
It took security intervention to calm the situation.
