Former KCCA FC coach George Nsimbe who is fondly referred to by his fans as Best, has officially taken over as the new head coach at the newly promoted side the Saints FC.
Nsimbe who served as assistant coach, care taker coach as well as academy manager at Tanzania’s big spenders and 2015 Kagame holders Azam FC, Replaces Haruna Kebba whose contract was terminated on Friday 25th of September 2015.
Club management sacked Kebba accusing him and his assistant Mark Twinamatsiko of poor performance in the league.
‘’ The Saints Football Club would like to announce that Head Coach Mr. Haruna Kebba, Assistant Coach Mark Twinamatsiko and Club CEO Ahmed Kongola have left the club’’. The statement on the club website read in part.
Club chairman Johnson Musinguzi told the club website; “the results over the last several games have not been good enough, we have to take the decisions now for the benefit of the club.’
He is expected to appoint his assistants before embarking on the immediate task of hunting for the club’s first three points when they visit fellow new league entrants Maroons FC in Luzira on 3rd October.
Like the Saints, Maroons FC also is still trapped in the relegation zone.
Nsimbe’s Fact file:
He was born on December 29, 1966 to Kenyan father Richard Siambe and got the name Nsimbe from Paul Nsimbe who raised him in Makerere.
He holds a certificate in electrical engineering
He won two league titles with KCC (1985 & 1991) and three Kakungulu Cups (1987, 1990 & 1993).
He won two CECAFA titles with Uganda (1989 & 1990)
Played for three clubs: Wandegeya Young Stars, NIC and KCC.
As a coach, he has won three league titles with KCC FC in 2007/08, 2012/13 & 2013/14.
He didn’t get a single red card in his playing career
He is married to Florence and the couple has three children; two boys, Collin and Cedric and a daughter Joan.
His favourite jersey was Shirt 15, the same number his idol Phillip Omondi wore.
He was always at his best against Villa and scored 7 goals against them
He had a coaching stint at Kagame Cup holders Azam FC till early August 2015.
