Uganda Cranes shot stopper Abel Dhaira has re-signed for Iceland top division side IBV Vestmannaeyjar, Soka25east.com can reveal.
The 26 year old tall slim stopper signed a two year-deal with the Iceland outfit on free after the termination of his two year contract at Tanzanian Mainland club Simba last year.
Cyrus Wekiya, who is the player’s manager confirmed the development to Soka25east.com that the former Express FC shot stopper signed a two year deal, though he remained tight lipped about the financial details.
‘’I can’t enlighten the financial details to the public but what I can assure is that he signed a two year contract with the club and he is already in featuring in the club’s pre season matches ahead of their upcoming season.’’
‘’He joined after impressing in the three week of trials. He was handed an improved deal this time than the previous one when he first featured for the club,’’ said the soft speaking Wekiya, who doubles as Dhaira’s manager and second agent.
This is Dhaira’s second stint at the club he quit at the end of the 2012 season for Tanzanian giants Simba. He featured for the Iceland club in the 2011/12 season and made 30 appearances at the club.
Dhaira, who is a son to former Cranes goalie Bright Dhaira started his career at Express FC in 2006 before moving to URA in 2008.In 2010, Dhaira signed for Congolese side AS Vita, before moving to IBV of Iceland and a year later, he joined Simba SC late 2012 in December and currently IBV Vestmannaeyjar. He made his national team debut in 2009.
