FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking for the month of October was released on Thursday,November 5,2015.
Uganda stamped their authority as the emerging powerhouse of East African football moving seven places up to 68th. The Cranes beat Sudan 4-0 on aggregate to reach CHAN 2016 finals in the month, a feat that could have contributed greatly to the sharp rise for the Coach Milutin Sredojovic charges.
Also on the rise are Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and South Sudan. Kenya is up six places to 125th – this can be attributed to the qualification to the second round of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after beating Mauritius 5-2 on aggregate.
Tanzania climbs a step to 135th ; Taifa Stars just like Kenya moved to the second round of the World Cup qualifier on a 2-1 aggregate win over Malawi. Burundi moves to 107 from 135, this despite being knocked out of CHAN 2016 race by Ethiopia.
New kids on the block South Sudan are up ten places to 134 after recording their first ever FIFA match in the month.
Sudan is the biggest loser in the region dropping 44 places to 128. This can be blamed on the heavy loss to Uganda in the CHAN qualifiers.
Africa Champions Ivory Coast is the best in Africa at position 22 followed by Algeria at 26th.
