By Bonface Osano,
Ugandan International left back Geoffrey Walusimbi christened “Jaja Valu” by his friends and peers has been a household name in Kenya since joining Mighty Gor Mahia, however in recent days the once sweet relationship has turned into a rocky affair Soka25east.com can authoritatively report.
Walusimbi’s troubles started a fortnight ago when he reportedly rejected thirty thousand Kenyan shillings(Ksh 30,000) equivalent of $350 from Gor’s chairman Ambrose Rachier as part of his accumulated salary arrears that the club owed.In retaliation Walusimbi did not accompany the team to Kisumu City for their league match against Western Stima that weekend.
Gor Mahia players had threatened not to honor the Western Stima match over unpaid salaries and allowances and a quick meeting was called to iron out issues whereby part of salaries was paid to calm the agitated players.
Gor Mahia just like their arch rivals AFC Leopards are facing lean financial times as they owe players thousands of shillings in accumulated salaries and allowances.
Soka25east has reliably learnt that Walusimbi demanded for nothing less than the whole sum owed to him and he vowed never to take to the field henceforth without the same being cleared in full , the defiance seems to have put him on a collision path with club chairman Ambrose Dickinson Rachier.
Walusimbi , he has been spotted at the club’s training sessions at City Stadium in Nairobi, but he has not featured in Gor’s last two matches. As we publish this story , Walusimbi is not part of Gor’s squad traveling tonight(Friday) to Kisumu to face Muhoroni Youth on Sunday 24.
Walusimbi joined Gor Mahia in the 2014 season helping “K’Ogalo” to retain their Kenyan premier league crown. With just six months left on his contract, all ears will be on the ground for his next step after the impasse remains unresolved.
