Tanzania giants Simba SC continued with preparations for new league season kick-off by downing visitors Uganda Revenue Authorty Football Club 2-1 at the National Stadium on Saturday, August 15.
Kelvin Ndayisenga opened scoring for the hosts in the 4th minute, before Frank Kalanda drew matters level sixteen minutes later.
Simon Sserunkuma watched his effort go marginally wide in the 37th minute, as Simba intensified attack.
Kalanda should have put the taxmen from Uganda ahead in the 43rd minute, but his back-heel missed the target just wide – the tie retired into the breather even-steven.
Simba continued pilling pressure on URA in the second stanza of the match, and it paid off handsomely deep into the match when Juuko Murshid grabbed the winner minutes to the final whistle, to the joy of the partisan Simba fans.
Uganda Premier League kick-off next week Friday, August 21, while Tanzania’s Vodacom Premier League starts on September 12.
