Ulinzi Stars will miss the services of dependable Kenyan International John Mark Makwatta due to immigration issues when they play aganist Libya’s Al Hilal on Friday 10 February in Cairo,Egypt.
This is according to the club’s vice chairman Major Joe Birgen who confirmed to the club’s official website that Makwatta passport is with the United Kingdom embassy for Visa processing as he is part of SportPesa All Stars team which is scheduled to play aganist Hull City in a friendly match at the end of this month.
“They had promised the passport would be back on Wednesday but now we hear it is still in South Africa. We are very disappointed because more so, no one has talked to us as a team or apologized to us because of this inconvenience,” Ulinzi Stars vice chairman Major Joe Birgen has said.
“This is an important game for us and having our best players is a priority. We have incurred costs because we had already purchased tickets and now, Sportpesa have to refund us that money,”
“As a team we are not happy with this and we want an apology. We are contemplating pulling our players out of the trip. ” Major Birgen added.
The return leg of the match will be played on Saturday February 18 and it is not clear yet whether the passport will be released.
