Umed Ukwurry has signed a 3 year deal with Egyptian side Al Ittihad Alexandria in a $500,000 deal that will see him be one of the Ethiopia’s highest paid players in the country Ukwurry’s agent confirmed the deal.
Umed Ukwurry also refered by his peers and fans as Umecha has been a shining star player in the 2013/2014 Ethiopian premier league .The top scorer for St.George’s popularly known as Sanjaw who are currently at the top of the table sitting pretty with a comfortable lead.
However It was a clear issue to the St.George management that Umecha’s contract was scheduled to expire in June and they immediately sought to convince him to extend his contract but Umed had made up his mind he was not going to turn his back against offers that have been made for him over the years with top teams like Zamalek sought his services.
However Al Ittihad Alexandria of Egypt have been salivating over the mercurial striker and they finally won the bounty when they put pen to paper in the deal that comes hot in the heels of another high profile move by Salhadin Said who switched from Wadi Degla to Al Ahly in another lucrative deal.
Umed played a vital role in Ethiopia’s 2014 World cup qualifers and has been in red hot form at St.George scoring crucial goals that have put them way ahead of their competitors.
