Botswana will be looking for a new coach on the road to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations after the current manager Peter Butler announced that he will not be renewing his current contract.
The 50-year-old, has been in charge of the Zebras since 2014 but is at the end of his contract, although he was earlier reported to be in discussions with the Botswana Football Association over a new deal.
According to Butler there’s no way back as he revealed that in an interview with The Voice Newspaper of Botswana.
“Its done. Its over,I’ll go back home to relax and then come back to look into a couple of offers in Africa,” said Butler stating that he has received a ‘few’ offers from South Africa.
Botswana currently find themselves rooted at the bottom Group I standings with zero points, after failing to record a victory in their opening game aganist Mauritania.
In the match the visitors then grew in confidence as they pushed for a late goal with time running out on the clock.
Mohamed Abdellahi proved to be Les Mourabitones’ hero in the 78th minute as he beat Botswana goalkeeper Mwampule Masule to seal Mauritania’s 1-0 win.
