Minnows upsetting giants is what makes domestic cups to be exciting in the World of football. The marching on of a second tier side to the final is sensational and attracts attention.

Recall the time when relegated Wigan Athletics edged Manchester City in the final of the English FA Cup– Poster Rangers advancing to the Kenyan Gotv Shield Cup final–lower tier side MK Dons upsetting the most decorated English premiere league team Manchester United or when the most recent promoted club to the Zimbabwe top tier Ngezi beat FC Platinum to the Chibuku cup?

In Zambia, this is unprecedented. The fans are deprived of this sort of excitement and surprise.

Domestic Cup is a platform where minnows must be bossing. In contrary, powerhouses like Power Dynamos and Zesco United are dominating the Baclays Cup.

What should be done? Going forward, the Football Association of Zambia and Baclays Bank should consider awarding more slots to division one and two sides. The berths allocated for second tier clubs are not just enough.
