“I will definitely be called back into the National team,” ………BRUCE MUSAKANYA
He always amazes fans with movements on and off the ball! At his tender age he has played for the national team at the high level scoring a hat trick against India and was also part of the national team that played Brazil. His name is Bruce Musakanya. Kind of went low in the last season and after a lot of questions to hear from him. Bwezani of Soka25east took time to talk to the Red Arrows Midfielder and find out what was happening.
**********************************
BWEZANI WITH ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL: TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF. WHO IS BRUCE MUSAKANYANA?
BRUCE MUSAKANYA: Bruce Musakanya is a soccer player and a God fearing person who loves football so much. That’s it that’s what I would say about myself Bwezani.
BWZF: YOUR FOOTBALL CAREER. WHEN DID YOU START PLAYING FOOTBALL AND HOW MANY CLUBS HAVE YOU PLAYED FOR.
BM: I Started playing football in Kafue for the under teams then we shifted to Livingstone where I joined Blue Arrows and was loaned to Livingstone Pirates for two years from there I joined Red Arrows in 2011
BWZF: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE 2016 SEASON FOR RED ARROWS?
BM: The 2016 season hasn’t been so bad or good for us but I think it’s one of those seasons that I would say it is a fair season because of the military training we went through but all in all I think we are okay.
BWZF: GOALS HAVE NOT COME THROUGH FROM YOU THIS SEASON EVEN AFTER STARTING IN A PROMISING WAY IN LUMWANA. WHAT IS GOING ON?
BM: Yes, I have not had many goals this season even though I started on a bright note against Lumwana Radiants and it was sad that on the first game of my season I got injured after scoring because of that injury I stayed after a long time without playing and of course you know (laughs) that’s the reason why has not seen goals from me.
BWZF: YOUR CRITICS SAY BRUCE IS FINISHED. WHAT IS YOUR REACTION TO SUCH COMMENTS?
BM: (laughs) its football sometimes criticisms is part of the game because this season I think have played few games and you know the reason. But to all those that are criticising me I think they are helping me to work extra hard so that I come back the Bruce Musakanya people know.
BWZF: AMY DREAM OF BREAKING INTO THE NATIONAL TEAM AGAIN AND WHY DO YOU THINK NATIONAL CALL UPS HAVE ELUDED YOU THIS TIME AROUND?
BM: Yes, I do have because that’s every player dream and I will be called back, that I know, I think the is still the injury I suffered and now that am okay I need to regain my form and definitely will be called back into the National team.
BWZF: WHICH IS YOUR MEMORABLE GAME IN THE NATIONAL TEAM COLOURS?
BM: The game against India in India were I scored a hat trick and the other one against Niger were we won 2nil during the Africa Cup Qualifier at Levy stadium
BWZF: RED ARROWS HAS ATTAINED ITSELF A NAME OF ONE GOAL SPECIALISTS THIS SEASON OF COURSE APART FROM ONE GAME AGAINST LUSAKA TIGERS WERE YOU MANAGED TO SCORE TWO.? WHAT’S HAPPENING TO THE STRIKERS AND THE TEAM AS A WHOLE?
BM: (Laughs) Yes I think most of the games we have only scored a goal but the most important thing is winning a game though as a team we need to work on our scoring, if we score and we win its good and when we play and score more than two that’s a bonus of which we are working on as a team
BWZF: WHICH TEAM DO YOU ENJOY PLAYING AGAINST IN THE SUPER LEAGUE?
BM: I enjoy playing all the teams in the super league but of course there is this name of big teams which every player wants to be part of, these are the likes of ZANACO, ZESCO and POWER DYNAMOS, but for me I also enjoy the military derby of Green Buffaloes Vs Red Arrows. It always has bragging rights and luckily in recent years we have done so well in the military derby.
BWZF: THERE WERE RUMOURS THAT YOU WOULD HAVE JOINED MUFULIRA WANDERERS LAST SEASON. WHERE THEY FALSE?
BM: In Zambia we shall always have rumours and of course who wouldn’t want to play for Mighty Mufulira Wanderers. It’s a great team, but those were just rumours.
BWZF: TELL ME THE MOST ENJOYABLE GAME YOU HAVE PLAYED IN THIS SEASON AND THE WORST?
BM: The most enjoyable game was against Kabwe Warriors away and for me I think the worst was against Power Dynamos. We lost that one.
BWZF: WHO IS YOUR BEST FRIEND IN THE RED ARROWS TEAM?
BM: You should see the way we relate. We are all friends, Red Arrows is one family Bwezani and am sure that’s the reason why you support it also.
BWZF: WHAT NEXT FOR RED ARROWS AND BRUCE MUSAKANYA AFTER THIS SEASON?
BM: We need to get back to the drawing board and see where we went wrong and that will help us correct our mistakes so that we can focus on winning the league next season. About Bruce I need to work extra hard and regain my form and get back to the national team
BWZF: WHICH TEAM DO YOU THINK WILL WIN THE 2016 SUPER LEAGUE? ALSO TALK ABOUT RELEGATION.
BM: I think ZANACO has the best opportunity, they are on top and definitely favourites to win it. We shall wait and see. For relegation there is only one team confirmed and that is Mufulira Blackpool, on the other three, we will have to wait until games are played. We may have seriously twists that may surprise everybody. This is football.
BWZF: BRUCE ARE YOU MARRIED?
BM: No am not married but am dating.
BWZF: HOW DO YOU SPEND YOUR FREE TIME?
BM: Most of my free time am with my friends or visiting my family in Kafue.
BWZF: WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE BWEZANI WITH ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL PROMOTING ZAMBIAN FOOTBALL?
BM: You are doing a tremendous job; we need people like you in the football fraternity who can promote our local league. May God continue blessing you in what you are doing.
BWZF: YOUR LAST REMARKS.
BM: Thank you Bwezani for the job you are doing, and to my fans thank you for your support and encouragements even during my injury time. I really appreciate and God bless you all
