Express FC ended their poor run of form in the Uganda Premier League with a 4-0 victory over Soana at Wankulukuku Stadium on Tuesday.
The hosts, who went into the match on the back of five consecutive defeats, were understandably nervy early on but settled to claim a vital win.
The Red Eagles took the lead on the 14 minutes when Zimula Jalil slotted home a powerful shot outside the penalty box past Soana keeper.
The visitors almost equalized on 20 minutes when Muwanguzi John beat Express keeper Godwin Bbule to a long ball but Ssemuju made a last ditch clearance to deny the Soana striker.
Express extended their lead two minutes through skipper Birungi Michael Komuhanda with a nice lob over the on rushing goal keeper.
On the resumption, Express increased their attacks and their effort were rewarded for the third time Michael Birungi on 61 minutes with a simple finish from three-yards out.
Shafiq Bisaso’s men weren’t done there, as Komuhanda well taken corner was fired home by an un-marked Ayub Kisalita.
Nkata Billy nearly added the fifth in the 89th minute, the striker showed great composure but his shot went inches wide from a targeted slot into the far corner.
The win marked a good start for their technical director George “Best” Nsimbe who was confirmed on Monday by the club administration in fight to avoid relegation for their first time in history.
