The eagerly awaited 2016/17 Uganda Premier League season is finally here. The new season kicks off today with eight matches on the cards.

Today, 2015/2016 Champions KCCA  will open title defense campaign against JMC Hippos with Jinja based side hoping to recover after a disappointing performance last season in what is expected to be an explosive encounter at Phillip Omondi Stadium, as Uganda Cup Champions SC Vipers face a tricky encounter against Bright Stars FC at Nakivubo, a match that is the highlight of the day.

Ambitious newly promoted Ondupakara FC open the action at the Green Light Stadium against Soana FC,a clash that promises to a be a mouthwatering one,with Arua based side eager to open the season in a positive note with coach Adree not ready to see his side hand Soana three points.

Express Red Eagles welcomed back their old boys John Ssemazi and Herman Waswa . They also have Farook Matovu and coach Bossa looks confident of a good first leg. Lweza FC has been tough not for the Red Eagles.

URA travel to Jinja to play Kirinya Jinja SS while at nearby Kakindu Stadium another newly promoted side Proline FC will be hosted by BUL FC.

In Kavumba Grounds Police FC will seek to arrest SC Villa as they seek to pounch defeat into Jogoos. The Saints and Sadolin FC face off in Bombo Barracks Grounds.
