Defending SportPesa Premier League Champions Gor Mahia FC will host Sony Sugar FC at Nyayo Stadium,Nairobi on Saturday 23 and not at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru as was earlier planned.
K’Ogalo were pushed out of the city with all approved stadiums booked for other matches, forcing them to choose Nakuru for the match against Sony.
Nyayo in particular was scheduled for a tie between Kenya U20 vs Sudan U20 in the Nations Cup Qualifiers, but since the Harambee Juniors were expelled from the competition by CAF on Tuesday, the venue is now free for league matches.
This was confirmed by the deputy secretary general Naima Oketch.
“The match shifts to Nyayo, KPL has given the green light and Sony will be informeaccordingly. We are still within the 72 hours allowed for venue change.” She told Soka25east.com.
City Stadium, the fisrt Gor home ground was declared unsafe to host league matches. Their other home ground, Kisumu’s Moi Stadium was available but logistics and high cost of hosting the team in the lake side city ruled it out.
