Gor Mahia forward Ali Abondo was on Wednesday named the SportPesa/SJAK Kenyan Premier League Player of the Month Award for March in a ceremony held at City Stadium in Nairobi.
Abondo, who rejoined the champions from Tusker this year, was in an explosive form in March, leading his team to two successive wins in the league.
“I am really elated to have been considered for this prestigious award and i thank God first for giving me the energy to play and also my team mates at Gor Mahia who have been awesome.I want to continue working hard while hoping to get more awards in the future”Abondo told Soka25east.com
Abondo was awarded a 42 inch tv and also Ksh 50,000 prize courtesy of betting company SportPesa who are are the sponsors of the awards.
The 25-year-old scored the winner in their 2-1 win against Bandari before finding the back of the net again against Chemelil Sugar in their other league match played in March.
He becomes the first player to win the award which was launched last month by sports journalists.
