Kenyan skipper Victor Wanyama who plies his trade in England for Tottenham Hotspur has praised CAF organising of the Total Africa Cup of nations U-17 in Tanzania.
Speaking to www.soka25east.com Wanyama describe the tournament as key to the future of Africa calling on the expansion to more teams.
“I think it’s a good thing to have one of East African countries host such a prestigious tournament.CAF did extremely well to give the hosting rights to Tanzania. Some people maybe don’t know the importance of such a tournament but I can say it’s a big deal to host one of Africa’s biggest tournaments even if it’s the U-17 category”
“My career started when I playing in the same age groups and even though we have a busy schedule in the Premier League I ensured I watched the matches online and saw great talents.I hope my country Kenya will put emphasis on the same age group so that the players can grow together by playing such tournaments” Wanyama said
“I wish CAF can increase the number of the teams to give more countries opportunities to play in the prestigious tournament” he added.
Wanyama will skipper Kenya’s Harambee Stars at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. He has been a key player in the team for over a decade.
