Kenyan International Victor Wanyama’s time at Southampton is soon coming to an end as he inches closer and closer to a join his former boss Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur Soka25east.com can exclusively reveal.

The player who is in holiday in Kenya has not hidden his admiration for his former boss as he seeks to play in the Champions league something he last did while at Celtic in Scotland.

A very close source to the player who spoke to soka25east.com but sort anonymity intimated it was just a matter of time for Tottenham to table a solid bid for the midfielder.

“Wanyama’s move to Tottenham is drawing closer as he his agents have been talking to Tottenham. He can’t hide his wish anymore even though he respects and loves Southampton for giving him an opportunity to join the English Premier league he believes it’s every players dream to achieve more by playing Champions league football “the source told Soka25east.com

In January Soka25east.com reported that Wanyama was keen on signing an extended contract at Southampton but the article did not go down well with the midfielder who called in infuriated about another sign that he had simply reached his end at the club and was only waiting for the transfer window and the right moment to leave.

“Wanyama has so much respect for Pochettino and they talk alot he is the man who brought him to England so the move is inevitable at the moment the others just being speculations. He finds it more condusive at Tottenham since he knows the work ethics of the manager who he had worked under”he added

Wanyama and Pochettino worked together during a successful spell at St. Mary’s, and the Kenyan is keen on working with the Argentine again in the near future,

The 24-year-old has been the subject of interest from Spurs before, who enquired about the midfielder’s availability last summer, but the approaches were rejected by the Saints, who were keen on keeping hold of their key players, Wanyama being one of those.

A move for Wanyama would be a good move for Spurs in terms of moving forward in my opinion.

The midfielder has previously worked with Pochettino, so has had time to get used to the style of play he adopts, and has also got the all-important experience of Premier League.

We have to question the lack of squad depth that Spurs appear to have as they prepare for another stint in the Champions League, and to be brutally honest, they looked well short of a title-winning side once they lost Dembele in the middle of the park through a ban.

This area of the midfield is something that Pochettino will have to look at and strengthen, because with backups of Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb and Tom Carroll behind regular starters Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele. The latter of course will miss the start of the season as he serves the rest of his ban.
