The latest reported Victor Wanyama development is a real sign of just how little Tottenham Hotspur value the Kenyan these days.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has spoken in the past about how much he would love to bring Wanyama to Parkhead this January. However, the Hoops boss believes that wages will be a key issue (The Herald).
But his situation at Spurs couldn’t be any worse than it currently is for him. Indeed, big Vic is now apparently being offered out as a makeweight for other deals. La Gazzetta Dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira has reported on his Twitter page that the midfielder is being offered to AC Milan in a bid to bring Krzysztof Piatek to London.

La Gazzetta’s Schira reports that he’s one of three players currently being offered. The others are Erik Lamela and Juan Foyth. The reason being that Spurs aren’t reportedly willing to meet the £25million valuation that Milan have demanded.
And that now sends Wanyama down to an all-time low at Spurs. With only 24 Premier League minutes to his name all season, it’s clear he’s becoming an unwanted figure down south (Transfermarkt).
Spurs seem absolutely desperate to get rid of Wanyama as things currently stand. The Evening Standard reported a few days ago that they could even have to lower their price valuation for the Kenyan. However, there’s clearly one major stumbling block.
Wanyama, as things stand, is currently sitting on a reported £62k-per-week contract (Evening Standard). Celtic, of course, couldn’t touch a figure like that. Then again, you do wonder whether a compromise could be reached.
The Scottish Sun reported in the past that Scott Sinclair, who left Celtic for Preston this month, had become the club’s highest earner on £35k-per-week, so there could still be funds there to offer Wanyama a substantial wage.

It would all depend on whether Lennon believes that making him our highest earner would be worth it. You can’t imagine Wanyama coming to Parkhead and dropping £40k worth of wages. That’s clearly where Lennon’s concerns likely come from.
The arrival of Ismaila Soro also puts this into real doubt. His deal to come to Parkhead has finally been completed, so if Lennon feels that he can play a part this season, you wonder whether we’ll bother with Victor.
Regardless, it looks essential for him that he finds a move. Considering Spurs are offering him out these days, it’s clear that they don’t think much of him.
