By Steven Kagiri,
Teenager Farouk Miya was the hero for Vipers FC as his lonely goal was enough to send Vipers at the top of the table after flooring army side Simba in a tense game played at Kitende grounds today Tuesday evening.
The 18 year old attacking midfielder who is regarded as one of the best in that position in Ugandan football, scored from a free kick after being brought down outside the box to score his second goal from three games. The win lifted Vipers to summit with 35 points two ahead of Kiira young who were not in action.
At Nakivubo, Bright Stars FC got the better of Soana FC for the first time in four meetings in FUFA organized competitions.
Prior to the game, Soana boasted of a good record against their rivals with a win and two draws between them. Francis Olaki was a class apart and showed his brilliance with the ball when he squeezed a shot past Bright Stars FC keeper Abdallah ‘Red Ice’ Ssekikubo for the visitors to take the lead.
Olaki, who is the young berother to Cranes striker Emmanuel Okwi never completed the game as he came off shortly after the break with a thigh injury.
Hassan Kikoyo netted the equalizer after a defence splitting pass by Medi kakeeto. Second half saw two red cards dished out-one to each club. Anthony Bongole got the winning goal for Bright stars FC
In Lugazi, URA lost at home to Sports Club Victoria University 2-1. Noah semakula and Odong Mathew scored for SCVU. Kalanda Frank got the consolation for URA.
At Muteessa II stadium, Entebbe and SC villa shared the spoils in a goalless draw.
At Kakindu stadium, Kibirige Jackson struck for BUL while Ivan Lubale was on target for CRO who occupy bottom position.
