Moses Peter and Moses Okoro scored two late goals as Nigeria secured a 2-0 victory over Sierra Leone in 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations match on Monday night.

Both Nigeria Proffesional League stars netted in the 85th and 87th minutes for the Super Eagles at the Cape Coast Stadium in Ghana.

Sierra Leone striker Donald Wellington nearly pulled a goal back for his team in the 90th minute but his shot was not enough to shake Nigerian keeper,Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Nigeria, with a hard running approach, set out quickly to overwhelm their Sierra Leone opponents, who enjoyed much of earlier exchanges after the start.

But only Mathias and Moses had chances in the first half, thwarted by a lack of accuracy and a save by Sierra Leone goalkeeper Koroma.

A cheeky back heel almost saw Sierra Leone go into the lead in the 41st minute but Fofanah ‘s audacious effort was saved.

Nigeria’s success will be tempered by concern over injury to key players Okpotu and Eduwo, who both had to leave the game.
