Mali and Senegal progressed to the final of the ongoing West Africa Football Union (WAFU) in Sierra Leone to complete the lineup of the final to be staged in Freetown on Saturday 7.
Liberia and Cape Verde will square it out in the third-place playoff on the same day, Saturday 7 before the final to determine their final position.
Nguenar Ndiaye and Ndeye Diakhate scored for Senegal in the 18th and 33rd minutes to seal a final spot. The Lone Stars failed to stage a comeback as Angeline Kien’s 55th-minute goal only proved to be a consolation.
Meanwhile, Aguissa Diarra and Senebu Sidibe scored a brace each in Mali’s 4-0 mauling of Cape Verde.
Diarra, who is on course to win the top scorer award netted in the 30th and 40th with Sidibe raising the tally on the hour mark before wrapping the goal fest in the 87th.
