Walter delighted to send Nkana into CAF – But will he be at Nkana next Season?
The 2016 golden boot winner in the ZSL Walter Bwalya feels Nkana can go all the way in the CAF Confederations Cup in 2018 after finishing the season strongly in 2017. He is sure the team can still produce more magical days at Nkana stadium on a consistent basis.
Speaking to Bwezani in a telephone interview, Walter Bwalya said it was a very tough season but to end the season with the chance of winning the title was phenomenal and something that everyone associated with Nkana should be proud of.
“Bwezani even you, know what happened this season, it was a bad season, being banned, injuries and everyone talking about me was something very difficult to take. But the end was great and we celebrated because we got united and we love each other as a team.” Said Walter.
On the chances of Nkana in the Confederation Cup next season, Walter is optimistic that the team will do very well because it’s a big club and ambitions of the club are huge. He does not have any reasons why they won’t perform well in CAF.
“We’ve shown everyone that we’re a very good team, we’re hard to beat, we’re going to have good chances, we’re going to score goals,” said Walter.
“Everyone who watched us in the last six games of the season may not want to play us.
“This will give us a lot of confidence and belief and we’ve just got to build on it. It’s been a fantastic end of the season but we know we’re capable of that. It’s good to prove to everyone that we can do it on the big stage. So we should be looking forward to the CAF games. “
I asked him what could have been his worst game in the 2017 season:
“Without a doubt it was the game against Lusaka Dynamos at home which we lost 1-0, that game had a lot in my mind and If you remember, my being banned came from Lusaka Dynamos and you should know how I was feeling with another loss to them. That was my worst game of the season.”
What about his best
“The game against ZANACO will be the best game of the season for me especially that I scored a hat trick against a very good team was a big boost for me and worthy celebrating. It was a massive result.”
I also asked him if he was going to be with Nkana in the coming season
“Laughs ……Bwezani, I don’t know, will have to wait. For now the only thing I can say is I don’t know if I will be a Nkana player next season.”
Walter Bwalya doesn’t forget the fans and praised their support , the passion and love they have for the team.
Walter Bwalya scored a total number of 13 goals in the Sssuper League and one more in the Charity Shiled to bring his total for the season to 14 and again ended as Top Scorer for Nkana. Despite missing the huge number of games he has shown again hoe prolific he is at goal and that alone is enough reason to pay a fortune for this great striker.
