Dylan Kerr has declared his long term plan to make Gor Mahia among the best teams in Africa.

He spoke after his unveiling as the new coach of the one-time African giants on a two-year deal at a hotel in Nairobi Monday.

“My long term plan is to make Gor Mahia one of the best teams in Africa,” the 50-year-old Malta-born Englishman said.

Despite dominating the Kenyan Premier League, K’Ogalo as Gor is nicknamed, have failed to replicate their 1987 exploits when they conquered Africa by winning the Mandela Cup, today’s equivalent of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Their attempts to return to the continental scene in the recent past have been underwhelming – failing to go past the preliminaries.

Dylan called for support to realize the set goals, “All I need is support. It’s a journey that we have to walk together to achieve the best. Expect hard work, dedication, sacrifice, honesty, transparency and working as a team.”

“We have a great squad and it’s all about building on what we have,” he added.

The former Simba SC manager finds Gor parched at the helm of the KPL table standings but have been unconvincing. The team is yet to win in last three competitive outings.

They were bundled out of the Kenya Cup on penalty by Bandari FC Sunday.
