Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama is yet to link up with the national team in Guinea Bissau for tomorrow’s 2017 AFCON qualifier match against the host nation.Soka25east.com has reliably learnt of the new development.
Wanyama is stranded in Morocco, after his flight to the North African country was delayed due to Air Traffic Workers strike in France, thus missing his flight to Bissau. When he arrived in Casablanca the plane had already taken off.
Wanyama spent the night in Casablanca and by this morning had not yet known his fate though the federation led by President Nick Mwendwa immediately took up the issue and reiterated he will be flown in time for the game tomorrow evening.
FKF Chairman Nick Mwendwa who is in Guinea Bissau with the rest of the team says Wanyama will be flown to Dakar Senegal later today and then to Bissau tomorrow. The match will be played tomorrow at 6.50pm local time.
Meanwhile Zambia based trio of David Owino, Jesse Were and Antony Okumu will link up with the team today. Stars will fly back into the country on Thursday, and will have two days to prepare for Sunday’s return leg in Nairobi.
