Kenyan international and Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama has been named the English Premier League (EPL) African Player of the Month for January in a release by the award organizers New African Soccer.
Wanyama edged Nigerian forward Victor Moses who was in great form for his Chelsea team and Ivory Coast forward Yaya Toure who plays for Manchester City.
‘The Lion of Muthurwa’ has been solid for Tottenham, guiding them to a highly respectable place on the table and helping as they remain the side with the least losses in the league and the best defensive record so far. A lot of Tottenham’s resilience has been down to his input.
The opinion sampled from various sports stakeholders was conducted by New African Soccer who presided a worldwide vote where contributors registered their opinion through a special vote.
