The Botswana Football Association BFA must be commended for assembling a powerful management team in-charge of the Botswana Women’s National Team. The Mares are off to a flying start at the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Mclean Letshwishi and his Executive have sacrificed and invested a lot in the development of Women Football in Botswana. WASBO’s statement on the exclusion of Female Management for the 2022 WAFCON is reckless and has come at the wrong time.
It must be noted that the BFA has faith in the coach Gaoletlhoo Nkutlwisang and his team who have worked so hard to build success for the Mares. WASBO must know that it has taken years to build the team and for them to bring in gender issues is hypocrisy.
The question that must be asked is, ‘where was WASBO all this time when the BFA was building this successful project?’ For them to come out now when they have seen success is opportunistic and has the ability to destabilize the team.
The BFA is committed to give opportunities to deserving Women in Management of Football in the country and will continue to engage many stakeholders for the better of Women in Sports.
