It was official before, but now it’s doubly official – Naby Keita can do everything.

While a few people might have been there, claiming all he does is tackle, intercept, set off attacks and score at close range, his performance against Hamburg proved why RB Leipzig treasures him.

When he usually picks up the ball 25 yards out, Keita isn’t usually drawn into the shot – but the magic of the return of Bundesliga action on Friday night throws up this sort of thing.

Not only does it underline as Keita’s position as the best player currently playing in Germany, but it also makes it seem as if though the Guinea international has a thing for playing against Hamburg.

With the score at 0-0 as the game entered the latter stages, Keita made himself available for a quick free-kick before beating his man and unleashing a rocket into the goal to put his team ahead.

A wonderful strike, that is not a technique that many players can pull off. Tim Wener added a second soon after and the score finished 2-0 to the visiting side.

Keita has started the season in exceptional form for club and country, having scored during the week for Guinea as well.

Liverpool early this month agreed a deal to sign Naby Keita from RB Leipzig next July.

The fee will be a record for Liverpool as it stands, with the club agreeing to pay a premium on top of the midfielder’s £48m release clause, which comes into effect once this season is over.
