Ivorian defender Serges Pascal Wawa Sfondo has reunited with Sudanese giants El Merreikh two years after leaving for Tanzania moneybags Azam F.C.

The 30-year-old former ASEC Mimosas player who was a free-agent penned a 2-year deal with his former employer Monday 14.

Wawa joined the Chamazi based outfit 2014 and was a prominent member of the 2015 squad which delivered Azam’s maiden CECAFA Kagame Cup – beating Gor Mahia of Kenya 2-0 in 2015 final in Tanzania under then coach Stewart Hall.

With the exit of Hall May 2016, after a disappointing season without a silverware, Wawa’s fortunes at the club dwindled, and was rumored to be at loggerheads with new Spanish coach Zeben Hernandez, who axed him from his team.
